Popular Nigerian singers, Davido, Burnaboy, Asake, Wizkid and Adekunle Gold win big at the 2022 AFRIMA award.
The 8th AFRIMA was held from January 12 – 15 2023 in Dakar Senegal. The award attracted African superstars from all parts of the continent who gathered in Senegal for the annual ceremony that celebrates the best music from the continent in the year in view.
Nigerian megastar Burnaboy took home the award for Best Album and Best African Act.
Davido bags 3 awards as he won ‘Stand Strong’ ft Sunday Service Choir (Best African Inspirational Music), ‘Champion Sound’ ft. Focalistic (Best Duo/Group in African Electro), Tion Wayne’s ‘Who’s True’ ft Davido & Jae 5 (Best Act in Diaspora Male).
Superstar Afrobeats singer, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun better known as Wizkid took home the Best West African Act award.
Asake who dominated 2022 with an unprecedented run won the “Breakout artiste of the year.”
Adekunle Gold won two awards: Best Act Group in African contemporary music and Best Act , Duo or Group in African Pop, featuring Davido.
