About-to-be-sentenced nternet fraudster Ramon “Hushpupp” Abbas has tendered hs apologes and apprecaton to presdng Judge Ots D. Wrght and the U.S. justce system for “upholdng the law aganst crmnals lke myself.”
Mr Abbas apologsed for hs actons, laudng the Federal Bureau of Investgaton for the thorough nvestgaton that saw hs arrest n Duba and prosecuton n the U.S.
In a handwrtten letter addressed to Mr Wrght and fled on Frday at the Unted States Dstrct for the Central Dstrct of Calforna, Mr Abbas took full responsblty for hs crmes and apologsed to both vctms and law enforcement.
Mr Abbas wrote the letter ahead of hs sentencng, lookng to curry a more lenent judgement.
“I wll lke to specally apologse to the vctms n the cases I’m nvolved wth from count one to fve…,” Mr Abbas wrote. “I apologse to the law enforcement agents who have worked trelessly to make the world a safer place and to the U.S. Attorney’s entre offce for the great work of upholdng the law aganst crmnals lke myself.”
In the four-part letter, obtaned by Peoples Gazette, Mr Abbas recalled jonng Instagram n 2012 to share hs style onlne and noted the expanson of hs busness nto “luxury fashon, real estate, automoble sales and entertanment deals.”
In July 2021, Mr Abbas entered a plea bargan wth the U.S. authortes, and admtted to multmllon-dollar fraud charges. Intellgence agences recorded multple crmes, ncludng money launderng, cyber fraud, hackng, crmnal mpersonatng, scammng ndvduals, bankng fraud and dentty theft commtted outsde the Unted Arab Emrates.
Mr Abbas has been n custody snce hs arrest n Duba and transfer to the Unted States n June 2020. In the letter, Mr Abbas clamed he made only $300,000 from hs crme nvolvement
Mr Abbas apologsed to the federal judge for hs crmes, sayng he would use hs personal funds to pay the vctms.
