A Lagos Hgh Court sttng has watched the chllng footage of Chdnma Ojukwu, the prme suspect n the murder of Super TV CEO, Mchael Ataga, confessng to stabbng hm to death, all by herself.
Recall that Chdnma, who s standng tral for the alleged murder of Ataga, alongsde her sster and thrd defendant, Choma Egbuchu, and second defendant Adedapo Quadr, has been on tral snce October 12, 2021, when they were arragned at the hgh court sttng at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) before Justce Yetunde Adesanya.
At the resumpton of proceedngs, the prosecuton played the vdeo recordng from a Compact Dsc (CD) on a large screen n the courtroom. The footage showed Ataga lyng on the floor facng up wth hs hands spread open, wearng a whte snglet and boxers staned wth blood. Hs head was close to the wall and there was blood on the floor on hs rght-hand sde. There were also large blood stans on the floor, the pllow, and the duvet cover.
“After I got the place on Sunday, we were smokng loud, drnkng, watchng moves and then I went to get food. The drug we were takng got fnshed and I ordered another one and went downstars to get t from the delvery guy n the mornng; that was on June 14, 2021.
“Then on Tuesday, we drank and smoked loud and I added Rophynol to hs drnk and we had sex. I was on the bed and he was on the char. Then later he started dsturbng me for more sex. I was tred and after strugglng wth hm, he had hs way and stll wanted more.
“He wanted t, he was no longer hmself and I thought he was no more nterested n sex, only for hm to return to the bed to ask for more sex. I pushed hm away, whch resulted n hm httng hs head aganst a stool that had a glass. He had a cut on hs leg and he became weak.
“I got a knfe and stabbed hm n the neck, rbs and stomach so that he would not be able to harm me. I ted hs hands wth hand kerchef. Hs blood was out and I was scared. I just packed everythng, my clothes were also staned wth blood, I just packed my thngs and left.
“I took the knfe and handkerchef and when I got home, I threw the knfe and handkerchef away. Mchael (Ataga) was a frend, that we just talked. I ddn’t know hm that deep and we dd not talk regularly.” Chdnma sad n the vdeo.
When she was asked n the vdeo f she was asssted n kllng the deceased, she repled, “There was nobody that asssted me, I dd t alone.”
Durng examnaton n chef by prosecuton counsel Mrs. Adenke Oluwafem, Bamdele sad the polce recovered some tems from the defendant’s house, ncludng a small pnk purse contanng two syrnges, eght peces of Rophynol tablets, two santary pads, a small perfume, jewellery, an Phone, a notebook, a dary, and an HP laptop.
Other tems were the defendant’s ID card wth her name, Ojukwu Chdnma Adora, Ataga’s drvng lcence, Ojukwu’s UBA ATM card, a Super net ID card wth Ataga’s name, and three other cards that had the deceased’s name and sx blank complmentary cards, among others.
In a short rulng, Justce Adesanya dsmssed the defendant’s objecton and admtted the tems n evdence and adjourned tll October 12, for the contnuaton of the tral.
Meanwhle, Chdnma had n an ntervew wth crme fghters n July 2021 weeks after her arrest dened kllng the busnessman.
She clamed that she had nothng to do wth the murder but only found Ataga’s corpse after returnng to the servce apartment where both of them had lodged.
