In a recent statement, award-winning Nigerian singer, Ayodeji Ibrahim Blaogun professionally known as Wizkid declares the genre of music, rap as being dead and boring.
Wizkid the ‘Essence” crooner made this known during an interview with 10 magazine, a British luxury quarterly magazine published in London, UK as he drags Nigerian rappers that include, MI Abaga, Vector, Olamide, Reminisce, Falz among others.
Recall that Wizkid who recently lamented about his relationship life as he declared himself single and searching released his 5th studio album, More Love Less Ego and by extension sends mixed signal as many concluded that none of the songs on the MLLE have shown the potentiality of shattering records just like tracks in “Made In Lagos” with a particular reference to “Essence.”
Speaking on why he doesn’t like the music genre, Wizkid claimed that most of the rappers do the same thing as there is no development in the music genre noting that most of them rap on the same beats, dished out the same style among others.

Speaking in a recent interview with 10 magazine, he said: “Afrobeats is the new pop. I sold two million copies in America off of one song! Even some American artists don’t have a diamond record. If I’m being honest, I don’t listen to any other genre of music anymore.
I don’t listen to rap – that shit is boring to me. It’s d£ad now, it’s tired. These guys do the same shit, rap on the same beats and the same flows.”
