Bukola Elemde, popularly known as Asa, a Ngeran musc star, has slammed a copyrght nfrngement notce on Afropop snger, Joseph Aknwale Aknfenwa, aka Joeboy.
She clamed that hs recently released song, Contour, was nspred by her muscal composton, whch she recorded on September 22nd, 2020.
Asa demanded N300 mllon and a 60% (sxty percent) publshng splt on the song n a letter she wrote to Joeboy through her management.
The ‘Bbanke’ crooner asked hm to mmedately remove the song from all DSPs and any other platforms wthn twenty-four (24) hours. She also requested a wrtten apology.
The letter read n part; ”It has been brought to our attenton that your newly released song, Contour (the “Song”), nfrnges on the copyrght of our Clent, as recorded/captured n a muscal composton (the “Composton”) whch she created n a recordng sesson, whch took place on 22 September 2020, wth the producer of the Song, Alageu Mchael Chdoze (p.k.a Tempoe) n attendance.
We hereby demand that you mmedately remove the Song from all DSPs and any other platforms wthn twenty-four (24) hours of your recept of ths letter, wth a wrtten apology ssued to our Clent as well as halt any addtonal nfrngements of our Composton, ncludng any other nfrngements.
We also demand that the sum of N300,000,000 (Three Hundred Mllon Nara) as well as a 60% (sxty percent) publshng splt on the Song be assgned to our Clent.”
Joeboy responded to the notce on hs Instagram story, sayng that they were tryng to take advantage of hs nce personalty.
He dared Asa and her management to go through wth whatever legal steps they wanted to take as he noted that the 24 hours deadlne had elapsed.
The snger shared a screenshot of the letter he receved from Asa’s representatve and wrote; ”LOL.”
