On March 12th, 2023, popular Nigerian musician Asake shared a sneak peek of his upcoming single, which has generated mixed reactions from his fans.
Asake’s impressive 2022 run included a string of chart-topping hits and a debut album that broke records.
In 2023, he continued his successful streak with the release of yet another chart-topper titled ‘Yoga’. He teased his latest release through his social media handles, and the snippet reveals a return to his signature Amapiano sound.
However, the teaser has sparked debate among fans, with some finding it monotonous and repetitive while others are excited by its familiar appeal.
“Sounds like ‘Pallazo’. He can do better than this, though” CDQ commented.
Rapper CDQ is one of the critics who have voiced their opinion on the snippet, stating that it sounds too similar to his own hit single ‘Pallazo’.
Asake has had to deal with similar situations in the past, such as after he released the ‘Sungba’ remix featuring Burna Boy, which resulted in some fans referring to him as “Sungba man” on Twitter.
Regardless, Asake is poised to continue his musical dominance in 2023, and it is unlikely that he will be fazed by the criticism.
